POETRY
Anniversary by Ashley Nicole Coleman
May 2, 2013 By ashley
Antique was never a memory here
In the well-dusted home of his and hers
Which was really a home of theirs, ours
Backporchswing, windchimesing
In the chill of the evening gale outside
You wrapped my in a satin slip,
Your cordoroy shirt drapped round my shoulders
Two cups of tea that would grow cold for moist lips
Too busy in matters of talk and nontalking
Layers of lashes and lace tell a story
Half struggle, half self in shades of silver petina
Shinning circles remind me of the annual eclipse
When one form envelopes another

Human Nature by Ashley Nicole Coleman
You walked beside me here And I was your precious flesh You laid next to my ear And whispered me to rest But in my silent dreaming The yesterdays crisp wrong Would haunt me like a screaming I woke–you now long gone What sweetness What dismay That wordless Walked away You left your bone behind [...]
Single Muse by Ashley Nicole Coleman
I am a blank canvas, Untouched by a lover’s hand Awaiting an artist, Gentle, yet strong To lay strokes on my surface To paint me a masterpiece To stip of the cloth, Exposing my paper thin skin –White and with wanting color. Flex and fold your fingertips, which graze across my frame Mold and mend [...]
Sugar Butterflies (a haiku) by Ashley Nicole Coleman
Give me some sugar To go with the butterflies You set free in me
Gentle by Ashley Nicole Coleman
With plush knit arms And the taste of warmth –You have become My constant refuge And I am in awe Of a male who has room For a brain and a heart And the whole of me I hope I know you long enough To memorize your touch I hope you know you’re strong enough [...]
Song of My Heart by Ashley Nicole Coleman
Thump thump The biological bell rings Thump thump With every passing glimpse, springs Another look at you And it could be my last I’ll be drowning in the future Or burning in the past I only want this moment, here In front of your angel’s face In front of all I’ve come to know -My [...]
Separated by Ashley Nicole Coleman
Touch me now Because tomorrow may not come And I want to be with you When the final flame burns out Ash is what’s become of me In lying to my heart In letting my only chance slip by Watching him walk away And what do we do When we need to get closer Than [...]
Like Water by Ashley Nicole Coleman
Rush over me, rush over me Like water wash my pain away Rush over me, please cover me In your liquid love affair I haven’t felt this clean before I haven’t felt this honesty I haven’t felt this refreshed, renewed I haven’t ever been more me Rush over me, rush over me Like water, cleanse [...]
Cuddlefish by Ashley Nicole Coleman
Want more of your Your phosphor esscence Your glowing kind Of water presence Your sandy dollar Your spiny shell Your coral collar Your deep sea spell Your salty laughter Your pearly grin A foamy rafter To place me in Catch me in Your fisher’s net A silver fin You’d like to get A web of [...]
Song of my Skin by Ashley Nicole Coleman
Lingering fingerprints like beach trodden footsteps trails of your kindness in the heat of discovery But I have no one to touch this skin; no explorers here to conquer the unpilliaged pathways And you, dear surveyor, you make my heart sing you strum its frail strings you bring butterflies to the garden within my soul [...]
